A Great American Bake Sale (2025) is a photography-based exploration into the relationship between capitalism & American-made violence. The series is made up of 12 text and image posters designed to call attention to American contradictions & violence created by capitalist and racist foundations. A Great American Bake Sale is a campy satire of the American tradition of bake sales and a commentary on the oversupply, hyperconsumerist, and gluttonous qualities of American capitalism & politics. Because of the convenience we are given as Americans, it is easy to ignore problems and contradictions. America has literally sugar-coated what it means to live in the United States. As long as we turn a blind eye, it continues to poison our community. The Project covers themes of Gun violence, military manufacturing, Police brutality, the homeless crisis, the decriminalization of marijuana, Rainbow Capitalism, and the ICE raids.

All the baked goods in this series were baked by me and my sister in her in-laws’ Kitchen. A special acknowledgement has to be given to the whole family for not only letting me occupy their space to complete this project, but also be the hands I needed to bring my vision to life.
